If there were ever two entities who would need no introduction on this site, they would surely be the timelords of the dancefloor, A-Trak and Fool’s Gold. These are the people you want to follow blindly into the pulsing heart of a chaotic party. As such, I could not help but notice that the January edition of Fool’s Gold Radio was a particularly tasty heaping of buttery jams. I took you deep, I took you way out into left field, now I’m dragging you back to the world of, “Shut up and dance.”

This creature feature pops off hard with a body workin beat before dropping the false start and building back into a steady groove. Curated by the man himself, A-Track, this mix relies neither on gimmicks nor trends, but an organic grasp of all the points along the path of how to run a party. Things stay four-nailed-to-the-floor and sway through the sounds of house, club, RnB, electro, a dash of moombah, and more. It’s a dizzying list of all the names you want to see, including, but, egadz, not limited to: Claude VonStroke, Jack Beats, Para One, Mount Kimbie, Bart B More, Dirtybird, Marble, Ed Banger, and I’m just going to stop there before I transcribe the entire tracklist. Where will this mix find you?……

All week long you’ve been waiting to squirrel away five plus straight hours for a life transcending dance-a-thon. Rolling up to your favorite club, always poppin, always fresh, no list, no dress code, no nonsense, it takes half an hour to get in, simply because of all the friends and family that litter the street. But as you hit the stairs, just inside the entrance, the leviathan beat has already grabbed your soul. You slide into a Jungian mob, and wrest your limbs to the universal pulse. All time and space are lost as the night becomes one long ecstatic blur. The DJ, a machine of sounds, knows every cathartic track you’ve had just under your skin, and you collectively repay the favor with constant audible affirmations. Beyond sweat, beyond fatigue, you keep it going all night long, and it takes you several solid minutes to collect where exactly you are when the reverb from the last kick drum finally echoes to a quiet. Soaked and Exhausted, you glory in the fact that this is your life, and this club, this crowd, these DJ’s and this music are what keep you alive.
