Since 1997, Sam Kleefisch aka $amroc has been presiding over turntables, airwaves, and various sound systems in nearly every interesting musical opportunity that has appeared for him. Learning to mix with drum and bass while simultaneously volunteering on local community radio as soon as anyone would let him set a strong work tone to later be rewarded with various local DJ residencies and the chance to work steadily with local musicians in a variety of projects.
Years of spinning predominantly Jamaican music with hip-hop scratch mixing skills also rendered him notorious in the local dancehall scene. If you go looking for him on any given night he could be maintaining his roles in local bands TakI Allstars and Star Persons, cultivating his new found interest in production, holding down either his Moombahsoul Monday residency at local cafe Alchemy or the Cardinal’s DUB PUB monthly, or out and about punting with the people that keep him staying involved in Madison, Wisconsin’s beautiful nightlife. In his career he has opened for artists as diverse and far ranging as Burning Spear, Ghislain Poirier and Mudvayne while simultaneously coalescing traditional DJ work into shows that indelibly leave his trademark stamp of dub effects, latin percussion and electronic bass on every venue he enters.
