It has been a crazy few months for this kid, some good, some bad. But now I am back to a place where I can fit writing into my weekly schedule. Today I come at you with a selection of songs made by friends of mine. Threw the thick and thin of the turmoil in my life over the last few months I have relied heavily on the support of my friends, and have spent a ton of time listening to their music. Heres a selection of some tunes I have been enjoying.
First up we have an original track by SoundKill3r. With releases on Dooh! records out of germany and a whispers of a new deal on the horizons his music is already reaching the masses. A recent transplant to Madison, WI via Miami SoundKill3r held down a residency at Mekka night club when he lived in FL. Known both for his Electro House productions and energetic masked performances he has branded him self well, and his 11k facebook fans are clear evidence of that.
Next up is a really nice Drumstep remix of Theophilus London’s track Around the World by VON, a rising star of the Wisconsin community. With just 13 months under his belt he has made huge waves, keeping up a busy touring schedule and putting out releases on Heavy Artillery Recordings, Shogun Recordings and an upcoming album on GaWa Recordings. Remember to check out his facebook page as he has promised to release another free download at 2k likes.
Now we move onto a fun rehash of Knife Party’s Tourniquet by DJ Marcus J. With a nice breaky feel and an added vocal that lands somewhere between DJ Funk and Bright Eyes (you’ll just have to hear it to believe it) this has mad cross over appeal. Check out his Soundcloud for lots more fun edits.
Parad0x has been turning out great remixs and originals at an alarming rate. With a home town like Midland, MI (2010 pup 41,863) this kid has really had a chance to craft his own sound. Nice clean complextro without overly long break downs. Its all right up my ally.
One more original to finish up this batch of tunes. This time by Patrick Awesome. This tune reminds me Clouds nice and meaty all the way threw but saving that real heavy drop for after the second break. Its a track thats made to be mixed and I always appreciate that.
