Whew…that’s the problem with being busy and traveling – it makes it difficult to update and share everything with you all! If you don’t follow me on Twitter or Facebook yet – I do update those while on the road (ahhh the magic of smart phones). Playing in Vegas this week has been a trip and a half. Aside from gorging myself on amazing food (umm truffled tater tots anyone?), I had killer gigs, was able to meet everyone on my new management team and I got to hang out with tons of friends new and old – Donald Glaude, Holy Ghost!, Jen Lasher, Nick Terranova, and even Craig Williams, our winner from last year’s Lolla Remix Throwdown!
For those who don’t know, I’ve been playing at the brand new Cosmopolitan all this week and tonight is my last night here. The hotel is gorgeous – it’s like the W Hotel on acid. The room I play is a perfect example. It’s called The Chandelier and is literally a three story bar IN a chandelier. I know, hard to picture…this photo should help you out! Nuts, right?
Equally nuts, but in a more amusing way is the people watching. I mean come on, it’s Vegas. People are here to do all the stupid shit that would be unacceptable at home and high five each other for it. While DJing this week I’ve seen a guy walking around in a penguin suit with his friends, a dude with an outfit that screamed ‘Johnny Cash as a pimp’, several escorts *ahem* flitting from guy to guy trying to score, oh, and THIS. Of course, I also met tons of wonderful, interesting people, which included everyone from my new agency, Creator Entertainment. In fact, I also got to tour the company’s new Vegas digs – a 15,000 square foot mansion that operates as an office and collaborative space for artists on the roster. The place even has a private movie theatre in the basement, no joke.
I have to wrap up, about to go to a cirque show with Craig Williams before my set tonight (gotta see ONE show in Vegas!) but I wanted to make sure you all knew I was alive and not ignoring the site, but just busy busy busy. It’s been a good week, and one that has reminded me just how lucky I am, that I love what I do and I get to share it with so many people. I mean, just as an example, I met two guys from San Francisco that were on my return flight the other day and I invited them to come see me play. Not only did they wind up coming to The Chandelier multiple nights in a row with all their friends, they even followed our group to some after hours and I’ve become pretty buddy buddy with them. I just adore random connections. Ah that’s right…I was in San Fran this week too…but I think that should be a separate post
I leave you with one teaser song…
