Yup – we have a world premiere for the latest remix from Black Cards! The newest group from Pete Wentz, we here at danideahl.com have been religiously following the duo since their inception. Their remixes are consistently heavy, dirty electro – just what we like to wallow around in on this site.
This fresh offering is a remix of Gym Class Heroes’ “Ass Back Home” featuring Neon Hitch. Can I, for a moment, reflect upon how much I love the red-headed phoenix that is Neon Hitch? This girl has vocal chops and hustle (as evidenced by the handwritten CD of covers I got from her a couple years ago at Lollapalooza) – a beautiful marriage of traits. I’m so happy to see her featured on this song, which highlights her talents beautifully.
The remix starts out with ambient pads, an occasional piano and trickles of bleeps, all making the bed for Neon Hitch’s vocal. After a generous intro, it slams into the meat of the track, serving up heaps of jagged complextro synths without sounding overdone. It simplifies a touch for Gym Class Heroes’ portion and the two banter back and forth before an ebbing breakdown takes over about halfway through. One of my favorite parts of the track is the breath-holding buildup with a huge drumroll and a quick second of silence before the track rattles your brain again. Enjoy the goodness below.
